ALDI MANSION : PENNSYLVANIA

October 29. 2017

When searching for a photographer, Justina + Avi were really starting to get discouraged. They searched for a good 6 months before Avi randomly came across us on FEARLESS PHOTOGRAPHERS and as soon they looked through our stuff, they knew they had found the photographers for them. They wanted something with artistic direction, emotion.. a little dark and moody for their wedding, to coincide with their Halloween Theme.

The creepy aesthetic of the Aldie Mansion alone, is enough for anyone to want to have a Halloween wedding there. It is so unique, and has a gothic yet classic feel that was exactly what this witch and wizard wanted. All the decor, florals, pumpkins and magical touches transformed it into the the mansion of their haunted dreams! When we arrived we were greeted by a skeleton (forgive me I forgot his name). The smells were the next to hit the senses. Fall scents and the simmering of ginger-carrot soup filled the air. PS - They got that recipe under lock and key hahaha!

The ceremony, run by Jill was SO GORGEOUS. It suited J + A's eclectic beliefs and traditions. The masked Harpist and Cellist performed Phantom of the Opera, Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, Poltergeist, Hocus Pocus, and on and on! This totally set the mood for a beautiful exchange of vows. It was an incredibly unique and one of a kind including Celtic Handfasting, building our community spider-web, honoring the elements, and jumping the witch’s broom! All the hanging lanterns and full florals really filled the space and created a mood that this couple wanted so badly. Edgar Allen Poe even made an appearance and before we knew it the bride and groom were jumpng the broom. Unfortunately, everything was planned for the outdoors but as nature is ALWAYS unpredictable it was pouring. That's ok, we got this. We all got this.

After receiving their images, we got this back within moments:

"I think the biggest take away from working with you guys is that you are like photo ninjas! Half the time we didn’t even realize you were taking photos. We really appreciated the non-invasive method you guys practice when capturing those special moments. You guys totally captured the vision we had for our spooky day! We love how you captured even the smallest details we would have otherwise forgotten about amidst the chaos of the fast paced day!

Some of the moments that you captured that really stood out to us are: Our gifts to each other: Avi got me a compass with our initials engraved in 2 heart charms, and then a 3rd plaque charm that had the coordinates and date of where we got engaged in Salem, Mass. and also of the Aldie Mansion where we were getting married that day. When I had realized what the coordinates were, I could not contain my emotions and just cried like a baby. I got him a watch engraved with our wedding date and an inside joke, and the photos of his face when opening it is priceless as well. My Father seeing me in my dress was also a very emotional moment that I think caught us both by surprise. My father and I don’t have an overly emotional relationship; it’s more like the relationship of just really good friends that bond over musical interests. It was great that you guys were able to catch us both in that emotionally vulnerable state, because that doesn’t happen that often, haha. And finally, our dance with my grandparents as they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. This dance was a beautiful and joyous tribute at the time it was happening, but it means so much more to me in retrospect. My grandfather had been battling prostate cancer for the past few years, so he would have trouble walking most of the time. However, that night he was able to muster the energy to full on dance as if it were his own wedding day. That last dance with him means the world to me. In January of the new year (2018), we found out that we didn’t have much more time with him, and in February he lost his battle with cancer at 94 years old. He had a full life though, and I’m so grateful to have shared that last dance with him.

Thank you Karmapants!"
