Where do we begin? We knew from the moment we talked with them that their wedding was going to be different. It wasn't going to be flashy or over the top. It was going to be genuine and natural, just like our beautiful bride Madelena. After these two nailed us down for Photography + Videography for their day they emailed us shortly after asking if we would like to come up to Vermont to do an their engagement session in the town they met. Um, YEAH! Seriously...ANY reason for us to make it up to Burlington, we are there! We love the drive and the time together to talk. We met them at a restaurant the night before and got to know each other a bit. Things got a little personal when we realized that Mom was sick and their family was dealing with so many emotions while planning their wedding. It is things like this that we would have NEVER known if we didn't meet first. So important for us to forge that relationship in advance.
When we showed up to Prallsville Mills we did a quick panoramic scan and then immediately dove right into taking gorgeous photos. We knew we had to use EVERY possible moment alotted to Maddy + Nick's photos alone. Our brains were overflowing with creative juices. This place is so gorgeous. The views are an incredible place to celebrate with your family. Especially one that has such a natural beauty of its own. There was so much love there. We really felt like a part of the family that day.
We feel like we really became friends with this lovely couple and well, I am just going to let them talk. A few days after the delivery of their images we received this email from Madelena + Nick:
"A few things about our day... There's a moment you guys captured. Nick and I are walking towards the tent during the reception. Our arms are around each other and I'm giving him a kiss on the cheek. I think you included it in the blog draft. It's one of our most favorite photos because we remember that exact moment. We were walking down that path and the weight of everything just kind of hit us. Together, married, surrounded by all of the people we love most in the world.. all of the time, energy, and hard work we put into planning coming together perfectly under that tent on an unbelievably beautiful day in October.
We felt like the luckiest, most blessed people in the world in that moment. And you got it on camera! In the months and weeks leading up to the day, we were trying to be realistic about our expectations. Everyone says, things will go wrong, the timeline will go to hell, blah blah. But I have to say, at the end of the night, we were just overcome. We could not have imagined anything more perfect. We felt blessed and still do everyday. It was the greatest day of our lives.
A word on you guys... you seriously rock. We (and our family and friends!) are so impressed with all you were able to capture, both in photos and video. You were everywhere, and yet somehow we never noticed. Bottom line, you spend a lot of time with your photographers on your wedding day, and we're so glad we chose you guys. You kept things light, had fun with us and our guests, and most importantly, captured so many incredible moments! Ten hours is a long time, but you guys never really stopped shooting. That wasn't lost on us! We can't thank you enough."
Thank you guys. We feel exactly the same way about you. You entrusted us in every way and just let us do what we do. Capture. You are the bees knees and we look forward to having dinner with you by Lake Champlain in the future!
