Colin and I never met Rachael + Chris before their wedding day with the exception of Skype which we all know is super awkward at times. We had a great meeting and since we came highly recommended from a fellow creative photographer they were all about us from day one. This is always the recipe for the perfect documentation process. Not once were we told what to do, how, where when to do a danged thing. I can't tell you how that makes us feel as documentary photographers....Ok, I'll just tell you: It's a dream!
The Hyatt Regency at Chesapeake Bay is absolutely stunning with panoramic views of the bay from every angle. Of course my eyes went straight to the crazy whimsical tree on the hilltop. As soon as I mentioned it Rachael was like...I LOVE that - let's do it. (this is the right answer PS - ALWAYS say yes! I promise it will be worth it) SO first look on the long walking dock out on the water - Check! Quirky awesome photos up on the hilltop with the tree - Check! So as if this wasn't enough.....we had the most perfect combination of sun and breeze : Not a bad office for the day. Rachael's gown was so perfect for her day and flowed all around her like one of the elements.
After the ceremony we headed over to the pavilion and ended up dancing the night away with this energetic duo. I love the feeling I got when editing the reception photos as it really captured the craziness of the event. My favorite photo is the one of the little boy's feet in the air! We had a gorgeous sunset over the water and I am so glad that we were able to capture that for these two. The colors in the sky mimicked the bridesmaid dresses and floral design...which is pretty much a girls dream come true. When we were leaving that night (after a pretty unsuccessful sparkler exit at midnight LOL....I still have to laugh a little about that, all those poor intoxicated souls...what a blast) Chris leaned over and whispered......
"Jenn....Make them dark.....make them all soooooo dark!"
Well Chris, I can't make them ALL dark, but I knew what you meant and it was a huge compliment to how much you appreciate our aesthetic. All our love to you and your family ...... "Your adventure begins here!"
